10 years already: a word from Ludovic
Dear clients, partners and friends,
Ten years ago, I embarked on a crazy adventure: creating an artisan eyewear workshop in the heart of Brussels.
After many years in the industry, I had come to realise that too often, glasses were chosen by default – based on whatever was available in the optician’s stock – rather than as a genuine favourite. I had also noticed that, even today, few people know where – and even fewer know by whom – their glasses are made.
What I wanted to offer was something entirely different: frames designed to fit each client perfectly, crafted here in Brussels, in our own workshop, by a team of passionate artisans. Glasses born from a personal encounter – not from a collection imagined far from the person who would wear them. Glasses made to last, robust and repairable. Because, as the saying goes: many can sell, but few can repair.
Ten years on, I feel a deep sense of pride. Pride in what this project has become. Pride in having trained and supported nearly ten artisans over the years. Pride in knowing that our frames are now worn across every continent. Pride in having helped so many people rediscover the comfort and joy of wearing glasses - glasses that are elegant, well-adjusted, and truly made for them. Pride in the loyalty of our clients. And pride, above all, in having built a solid, independent business with a future we can look to with confidence.
None of this would have been possible without those who believed in us - our clients, our partners, those who supported us from the very beginning. I also think of all the kind and generous people I’ve had the chance to meet, who offered their advice, their encouragement, or simply their time. I wish I could thank each of you by name, though that would of course be impossible. I'm But more than anyone, I think of Vinciane, my wife, who has supported me every single day since the very beginning.
Today, I’m also fortunate to be surrounded by a strong, committed and deeply engaged team. With Dorian, Gilles and Tijl, we are building the future of Lunetier Ludovic and of our workshop – a future that remains faithful to the spirit and values of our early days, yet is driven by the ambition to keep going further.
What I also take with me from these ten years are the many conversations. I’ve had the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life - in Brussels and abroad - through this work. These exchanges, often rich, sometimes unexpected, give this métier all its meaning.
My wish for the years ahead is simple: to continue accompanying you with the same attention to detail, the same passion, the same curiosity. To keep striving to do better, without ever losing sight of who we are. To carry our craft even further, while staying rooted in our workshop, here in the heart of Brussels.
Thank you to each and every one of you for making this journey possible – and for continuing to share our work with those around you. A recommendation is the greatest gift you can give us.
It is with you that I wish to celebrate this ten-year anniversary: thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Ludovic Elens
PS. to mark this ten-year milestone, we’ve gathered a small selection of photos of the current team in the atelier – memories of small and big moments shared over time. Glimpses of work, focus, transmission… and, at times, bursts of laughter. Simple yet essential fragments of daily life that speak volumes about what brings us together.
