175 frames

We will craft no more than 175 frames this year

It may seem little, seen from the outside. But it is the maximum we can produce at Lunetier Ludovic in 2025, with Ludovic, Dorian and Tijl in the workshop, while maintaining the standards we have set ourselves since day one. Our team will grow further but we want to make sure we get that right and we aren’t going to rush.

This number is no artifice. It serves no strategy. It simply reminds us of a reality in our daily life: producing well takes time. And training artisans capable of producing well takes even more time. The autonomy of an artisan generally begins after one year. It often becomes established after two. And to reach true expertise, it takes much more – we estimate it at more than 10.000 hours of work.

Some frames that leave our atelier are bespoke, others come from our Jazz Collection, and a few are unique pieces, imagined by the team. But all are entirely made in our atelier in Brussels. All are created, designed, crafted, adjusted and polished through the gestures we have learnt over the past ten years. Always with the same pursuit of excellence, refusing shortcuts. Accepting to produce less, and sometimes saying no, is the price to pay for not straying from our raison d’âtre. It is simpler to increase volumes than to raise the standard. But that is not what we we want to achieve.

175, then. It is not a goal, it is our current limit. A constraint we choose to embrace, because it guarantees that each pair of glasses that leaves us is truly the one we had in mind. And that the person who will wear it will feel, without anyone needing to say a word, the excellence of the work behind it.

So this rhythm is a constraint, certainly – but it is also a choice. And if you would like to know more about our work, or to reflect on your next pair of glasses, do not hesitate to contact us so that one of these 175 may be yours.
